Mustangs Open 2025–26 Season with Momentum Under New Leadership
The Maranatha Mustangs entered the 2025–26 season with a clear goal: return to the top of the Skyline Conference. After finishing second in the league a year ago with a 13–3 conference mark and an overall record of 14–14, the Mustangs have embraced a new chapter built on experience, emerging talent, and renewed energy.
Leading that charge is first-year head coach Al Harris, who steps into the role bringing a strong background coaching high-level athletes. Harris has quickly made his presence felt, establishing a competitive mindset and fresh vision that has energized the program and set high expectations for the season ahead.
Maranatha opened the year on the road at Lake City, dropping a hard-fought 78–76 decision that showcased the team’s resilience early on. The Mustangs quickly rebounded when Skyline Conference play began, rolling to an 89–50 win over New Life Academy before putting on an impressive performance in their home opener. In front of a packed and enthusiastic crowd, Maranatha earned an 88–67 victory over Concordia Academy, giving fans a glimpse of the team’s offensive firepower.
The Mustangs continued to test themselves against quality competition, falling just short in an 83–80 loss to a tough Minneapolis Camden squad at the Southside Showcase. From there, Maranatha responded in dominant fashion, overwhelming Trinity 94–19 and following it up with an 88–58 win over Hope Academy.
Maranatha now turns its attention back to Skyline Conference action with a home matchup against Legacy Christian Academy (3–3) on Friday, December 19. The evening will feature a full slate of games with the C-team tipping off at 4:15 p.m., JV at 5:30 p.m., and varsity closing the night at 7:00 p.m. With confidence building and momentum on their side, the Mustangs look ready to continue their push toward the top of the conference.
