The Maranatha Christian Academy Mustangs capped off a competitive 2025 softball season with an overall record of 11-8 and a second-place finish in the Skyline Conference, posting a 6-2 record in conference play. The team was led by senior standouts Ashley Yost and Alaina Dunham, whose leadership played a key role in the Mustangs’ success throughout the spring.

Maranatha entered the Section 5AA tournament as the #5 seed and opened postseason play with a dramatic 3-2 victory over #12 seed Glencoe-Silver Lake. The win came in thrilling fashion, as sophomore Lily Mozdin delivered a walk-off hit to send the Mustangs into the next round.

In the second round, the Mustangs faced a tough road matchup against the #4 seed Annandale Cardinals. Despite a strong effort, Maranatha fell 2-5, dropping them into the consolation bracket. Their season came to a close after a 5-10 loss to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted.

Several Mustangs earned individual recognition for their outstanding seasons. Ashley Yost, Kendall Capp, Gracelyn Kersey-Schutta, and Alaina Dunham were all named to the Skyline All-Conference Team. Additionally, Victoria Taschner and Lily Mozdin received Skyline All-Conference Honorable Mention honors.

Though the season ended earlier than hoped, the Mustangs’ solid record, postseason win, and multiple individual accolades highlight a successful year and a promising future for the program.
