Bob Willey is entering his second season as an assistant coach for the Mustangs. His forty-year coaching journey is a testament to a never-ending pursuit of excellence. From his early days guiding his family’s adult team to his stints at Roosevelt and Issaquah high schools, Wiley has always embraced challenges and thrived on new experiences.
His hunger for knowledge led him to Tennessee State University, where he sharpened his coaching skills and broadened his horizons. After college, he headed back to Seattle, where his passion for coaching basketball continued to grow. He answered his daughter’s call and immersed himself in the world of girls basketball. In Minneapolis, he worked hard to establish the Minnesota Angels. This was a tribute to a successful program and a platform for his own evolving coaching style.
Willey’s willingness to learn and adapt led him to the Crossfire Girls Basketball program and his partnership with Coach Faith Johnson Patterson at DeLaSalle. He further honed his craft at Eden Prairie and Visitation high schools, leaving a trail of success and inspiration.
Today, at Crossfire, Bob continues to push boundaries, mentor new coaches, and build a legacy that extends far beyond the final buzzer.
