The 2024-25 Osseo Boys Swim season was a special one for Brady Landstad, Brandon Kot, and Mason Krings from Maranatha, and Alex Kosel from Providence. After qualifying for the MSHSL State Swim Meet a year ago, they were determined to be even better this season. They had big goals of making it to state again and, this time, leaving with medals.
This season was about breaking records, and they broke a lot of them. Brando Kot broke the school record in the 100 Backstroke (52.93) and Mason Krings broke the school record in the 100 Breaststroke (57.09). Mason Krings holds both the 100 Fly and 100 Breaststroke records at the Champlin Park Pool.
As a relay team, Landstad, Kot, Krings, and Kosel broke records in the 200 Medley (135.02), 200 Free (127.44), and 400 Free (3:13.61). They also hold the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay records at Centennial Pool.
They performed exceptionally at the Section Meet and qualified for the 2025 MSHSL State Swim Meet at the University of Minnesota for a second straight year. This time, they got in the pool in front of a huge crowd at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatics Center with a ton of confidence.
They qualified for the finals in the 200 Medley Relay and finished 8th. Mason Krings qualified for the finals in the 100 Breaststroke and finished 7th. The boys also competed in the 200 Free Relay, finishing 11th, and the 400 Free Relay, finishing 13th. Brando Kot competed in the 100 Backstroke and finished 26th.
Overall, it was an incredible season. Osseo ended up finishing 11th in the state, which is the highest they have placed in over 20 years.
