The 2025 Mustang Alumni Basketball Game was as exciting as advertised. Alumni from 1997 to 2024 showed up to compete, and they did just that from tipoff to the final seconds of overtime. 

The Red Team’s roster included Josh Lannan (1997), John Szwaja (1998), Brian Yackel (2004), Gene Pease (2005), Christian Farrand (2019), Elijah Krieg (2019), Benji Bruce (2020), Ja’Rory Purnell (2023), and Gresyn Rennie (2024).

The White Team’s roster consisted of Andy Eickman (2007), Nate Best (2007), Brett Collin (2008), Matthew Eickman (2009), Phillip Eickman (2011), Karina Eickman (2014), BJ Davies (2021), Jeremiah LaVelle (2022), and Drew Balentine (2024).

With over 130 fans in attendance to cheer on our alumni, the Stable at Maranatha produced the perfect atmosphere for a Friday night game. The cheerleaders, coached by MCA alumni Allie Oliver and Jillene Nelson, brought some excitement to the sidelines as they cheered on both teams. Even Stomper made an appearance, and fans got involved as they competed in contests to win prizes after each quarter. 

The game itself was a back-and-forth battle that produced a 66-66 tie at the end of regulation. The Red Team took control in overtime and didn’t look back on their way to a 73-66 win.

Stomper, who looked like he had aged a few years, greeted all the athletes after the game with some goodie bags to help them recover from all their hard work on the court.
