The Maranatha Varsity Volleyball team kicked off their season strong with an impressive 3–1 (25-28, 26-28, 25-23, 25-22) victory over Holy Family in their home opener. The Mustangs battled hard from start to finish, leaving everything on the court and securing a confident win in front of a packed and energized gym. The Mustangs carried that energy throughout the match and were able to get a couple of close set wins.
Sophomore setter Alexa Moscoso set the tone for the offense with an outstanding 43 assists. Freshman outside hitter Aubrey Mahle led the attack with 19 kills, while Senior outside hitter Katie Olson added 13 kills and 5 aces. Defensively, Bri Kelly put up a wall against their powerful hitters as she totaled 7 blocks. Meanwhile, Junior libero Anna Bjork and Junior right-side and defensive specialist Brooklyn Miller worked together to hold down the back row, with Bjork recording 19 digs, and Miller adding 13.
Fueled by energy, determination, and the loud support of their fans, the Mustangs showed both skill and resilience in their season opener. Their strong start not only reflects the hard work they have put in during practice but also sets the tone for the rest of the season. With confidence high, the team looks forward to carrying this momentum into the games ahead.
Both the JV and C-team put forth a solid effort against some tough competition but fell short, losing both matches 0-2.
The Mustangs will return to The Stable on Tuesday, September 2, for another home match against a talented Jordan team that put up 16 wins a year ago. C-team at 4:15 pm, JV at 5:30 pm, and Varsity at 7:00 pm
